Draped-Neck Dress by Carilyn Vaile in Boysenberry

> $170 retail
> Neiman Marcus

I've been into looking at dresses lately. I was drawn to this one because of the boysenberry color. It's perfectly fresh and bright for summer! IRL, the color is exactly as you'd expect. There are only two things that were not completely apparent from the store pic, the biggest one being that the waist is a bit ruched. Now that I know, I can see it in the pic, but before, I thought the creases were because of her position. I'm not a huge fan of ruching, so I don't know if I like this feature, but on the other hand, it does make me feel a little more comfortable knowing that my stomach is a bit camouflaged. The other feature I couldn't see in the pic were the side slits. It's mentioned in the description, but how long are they?? Well, they're only a few inches long (if I remember, I'll go home and measure) and not the thigh high slits I was afraid of.

Sizing is TTS. I got the small. It is not totally hugging me at the back of my waist, but I think going down a size will be too much.

I should probably also mention that I got the black too! I know...you don't really need two of the same style. Since I'm not lucky enough to have a b&m Neiman Marcus, I figured I'd buy both and decide which I like best. Black is, of course, more boring than the boysenberry......but it's such a good basic LBD. Perfect for wearing over and over without people really noticing you've been wearing the same dress all this time. The boysenberry is obviously more bold and noticeable. I'm torn. Well, I know I will keep the boysenberry, I just need someone to talk some sense into me and get me to return the black!

Puckered Lace Shirtdress by Betsey Johnson

> $246 retail
> Nordstrom

This is a rather conservative dress for Betsey Johnson, but it's a very cute take on the basic shirtdress. I saw it and thought it'd be nice for casual-dressy dinners, church...and I think I might even be able to wear this to work with a cami underneath (the neckline is a bit lower on me than on the model). Sizing is either TTS or a tad large. I got the S and though it's fitted, I'm thinking I may have gotten away with an XS, depending on gappage where the buttons are. It kind of skims my body without really hugging...and I think because of the stretch, it should hug a bit more like it seems to be doing the model. It's a very cute dress and worth the price tag if you're looking for a more conservative dress (not so many out there!). I scored this on ebay, where I got it for a bargain of about 70% off!
